Descriptions :

During the years of working with different pig trackers, the team has become familiar with their strengths and weaknesses, and has managed to solve many of them in the TPL 10GB tracker. These weaknesses include the following:

  • Failure to record geographical coordinates in trackers automatically leads to user error in manually registering them.
  • The operator following the coordinates on the pipeline markers - due to the inaccuracy of the distances recorded on them - leads to an error in locating the tracking points and as a result causes an error in predicting when the pig reaches the desired point.
  • Error in calculating the time of arrival of the pig to the user's desired location due to operator errors in calculations.
  • Inability to work with the device due to the need for the user to be in the vicinity of the device until the pig arrives (which can be dangerous or tedious)
  • The weight of the device to be carried by the operator for long distances in order to find the exact position of the pig stuck in the pipeline.
  • The cumbersome interface wire to connect the "body" to the "receiver antenna" and the possibility of damage to the sockets or their wire break.
  • The use of non-replaceable rechargeable batteries in the receiver and the need to access electricity near the pipeline to recharge it is not always possible. Another drawback of this system is the long time required to charge the rechargeable batteries.
  • Impossibility to use the detectors in rainy and snowy weather due to improper degree of environmental protection (IP).

Team Pig Locator – TPL 10GB by adding:

  • GPS module for recording the geographical coordinates of pig tracking points
  • Calculate the pig speed between two specified points
  • Approximate time for the pig to reach the desired point
  • Generate reports of pigging operation at the end of the operation
  • Provide profiles of pig tracking points with the ability to adapt to maps or aerial photographs with geographical coordinates
  • Bluetooth module with the power to send information to a distance of 100 meters (to deletion the need for the user to be present next to the device)
  • Filtering the input signal to the receiver - main enclosure - based on the specific shape of the signal sent from inside the line (to prevent the error of notifying the pig passing by the device due to interference of annoying magnetic waves such as ground magnetic field, mobile noise, etc.))
  • Use of replaceable batteries that can be easily placed in the relevant compartment (deletion the need for access to electricity to charge the battery)
  • Providing IP65 standard for the "enclosure" and the receiving antenna (possibility of using the device in rainy and snowy weather)
  • Removing the interface wire between the body and the receiver antenna and replacing it with a slip plug and joint (convenience in carrying the device by the operator and preventing problems due to disconnection of the body and antenna due to damage to the interface wire)
